Obituary of Hallet William Rafuse
Rafuse, Hallet William – 85, of Young’s Cove passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and daughters in Annapolis Community Health Centre, Annapolis Royal. Born August 12, 1931, in Young’s Cove, he was the son of the late Victor and Susie (Guest) Rafuse. At the age of 15 years, Hallet worked helping the Power crews run the lines up the mountain and through the shore. He had various jobs throughout his life, from building mobile homes, the Irving Pulp Company, to his favorite, driving the school bus. To him, his most important job was providing for and looking after his entire family; building furniture for his children and grandchildren, planting his yearly vegetable garden to be sure he had lots to share, working in the wood pile to make sure there was plenty of wood. Hallet was a jack of all trades, who loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he took great pride. He made sure his family always came first, with all of their wants and needs were fulfilled. A few of Hallet’s other great loves are his special friend, his dog, “Cinda”, and attending local jam sessions. One of the projects Hallet was most proud of was his construction of the building where the store, “Barb’s Canteen” once operated. He later sold the building to the community of Young’s Cove, which now is known as Fundy Community Hall. Hallet is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Marilyn Rafuse of Middleton, Angela (David) Halliday of Young’s Cove, Susan (Lloyd) Taylor of Victoria Beach, foster daughter Gail (Gerald) Robinson of Young’s Cove; grandchildren, Marina Burbidge, Roxanne Halliday, Ric Halliday, Joshua Ramey, Teneha Ruggles, Damon Taylor; foster grandchildren: Alicia Murphy and Michael Robinson 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Irene Clayton, Marion Walker, Gloria Sarty; several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by his foster grandson, Bryan Robinson; sisters, Yvonne and Eleanor; brothers, Angus and Hilton. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Annapolis Royal. A funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Parkers Cove Baptist Church, with Pastor Herb Anderson officiating.
