Obituary of Harry Vernon Munroe
MUNROE, HARRY (VERNON)
It is with great sadness that the family of Harry (Vernon) Munroe announces his going home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, September 28th, 2017. The joy of the Lord is our strength and Vernon embraced that right up to his final days.
Born to Harry and Mae (Weir) Munroe, on September 26, 1943, Vernon grew up in Victoria Beach, NS, having spent the majority of his life there, until 2 years ago when he and Anne moved to Enfield, NS to be closer to family.
Always one to tell stories and share a good cup of coffee, he spent lots of time spinning a tale at the local Tim’s, where he developed many friendships. His love for the Lord and sharing the Gospel, had him travelling to many camp meetings, church retreats and lots of social gatherings over the years.
An avid outdoorsman in his younger years, he spent lots of time fishing and hunting. He travelled across the country exploring many different jobs, including mining, only to find his way back to Victoria Beach, where he worked at Casey Fisheries for several years. His love of the sea often found him on the beach digging for clams and teaching the grandchildren how it was done. He started them off at an early age to appreciate a good feed of clams and lobster.
Survived by his wife of 24 years is Anne (Nickerson), daughter Courtney Munroe, step-daughter Marianne (Michael) Stewart and step-son Richard (Lilly) Hebb, brothers Don (Betty), Phillip (Jeanette), sister Heather (David), step-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Tyler and Chantz, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by both parents and his sister Bonnie.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 7th at 3:00 pm at Kaulbach’s Funeral Home, in Bridgetown, NS, with Pastor Neil Barr officiating, with a reception to follow. Family flowers only.
On October 15th at 2:00 pm at Lighthouse Ministries Shubie Hall, Shubenacadie, NS, with Pastor Neil Barr officiating, there will be a celebration service and reception.
Donations in Vernon’s memory can be made to VON Canada.
