Obituary of Victor Edward Francis
FRANCIS, Victor Edward
October 2, 1932 - January 8, 2018
After a long courageous battle with cancer, we announce the peaceful passing of our loving father Victor Francis at his home with his family by his side. Dad was born and resided in Lequille, NS where he worked for the Town of Annapolis Royal in his earlier years and then the Department of Transportation. He had a great love for farming and spent countless hours in the garden. Later in life he grew Howard Dill pumpkins to compete and win in the Fall Fairs. He had a great passion for fishing, hunting and cooking. He would spend hours researching topics on the computer. Dad enjoyed company and sharing many stories. He was also instrumental in getting his family and many others recognized as Métis in Nova Scotia.
He is survived by seven loving daughters: Marilyn, Wilma, Nancy, Sherry, Emma (Kaz) Cigan, Carla (Michael) Taylor, Kimberly (Elliott) Beals. Grandchildren: Brittany (Zach) Buckland, Brooke Buckland, TJ (Jasmine) Beals, Brandon (Letocha) Francis-Jean-Pierre, BreAnn Francis-Jean-Pierre, Janay Beals, Aaron Beals, Madison Taylor. Great Grandchildren: Neveah Bishop, Connor Thompson, Noah Bishop, Emma Thompson, and many nieces and nephew and last surviving brother: Kenny (Rozella)Francis.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years Velda Francis (Bright), daughter Theresa and son in law Rod Buckland, parents Clifford and Emma Francis (Burrell), brother Gerald Francis and sister Mildred Francis.
A special thank you to the nursing team, who provided home care over the past year and to Malcolm Francis, who spent countless evenings reminiscing and exchanging stories.
At our father’s request, there will be no service. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
"Dad, please give a hug and our love to Mom and Sister 5 of 8.”
"Those we love don't go away they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear"
