Richard & family - your mom always made me feel special and it warmed my heart when she gave me her beautiful smile and kind words. She had such a lovely soul.
It is hard to see a beloved come to the end of their earthy life but you'll find comfort in knowing they have only gone from our sight because we have tucked them lovingly into our heart forever. Take care of each other.

Dear Gates Family,
For all of us, who grew up in Bear River; Annie was one of the "parents" who we all knew and loved. She was a wonderful lady and of course, we always asked how she was.
Your lives will be a little more empty with her absence, but your memories and hearts will always be fuller, for having had her in your lives for so many years.

Dear Annie;
I have been wanting to write to you for years and like many things I regret in my life, I left this too late for you to hear.
You were one of the bright lights in Mom’s world. Every single time Mom talked of you she always ended up laughing - really laughing - her beautiful, deep, honest laughter. And when you two were together there were two of you laughing... beautiful, deep, honest laughter. That laughter came from your beaufitul, deep and honest affection for each other and appreciation of each other. Somehow you two clicked in your wry perspective of the life and all its foibles. You two together was entertainment better than anything on TV.
Our world has lost a real and honest human being in losing Annie Gates. She was sharp as a tack and alert to anything that didn’t sit quite right with her. She was a natural born judge of human affairs. No comedian was ever more perceptive concerning the strangeness of human affairs!
Annie was famous in our family and certainly part of our bigger family and family history. You can’t think of Mom without thinking of her best friend. I don’t think anyone in our family would disagree with that!
We will all miss her. It’s hard to imagine Bear River without her. God bless her and all the Gates. Max

Dear Nova Scotia Friends,
It is with a sad heart that I send this condolence. Annie was such a loving and caring woman who I will always remember as smiling. She was a sweet and thoughtful woman who took the time to see how you were doing and what was going on in your life. I know that Rich looked forward every year to coming to the lake for her pie!
I hope that your fond memories of Annie help to sustain you at this time. She will be sadly missed.

Dave and I are saddened by the news of Annie's death, it was not a surprise yet leaves another small hole in the fabric of our community and in particular, our church family, that we would like to mend but cannot find any thread that would match Annie and who she was. Her sense of humour and wit, her feisty spirit and deep love for Lord and her family were qualities that we will miss.
Dave's brother Clifford has wonderful memories and stories of working at the Chisholm farm when Annie was much younger and what a worker she was, an excellent horse teamster, determined that a horse was not going to get the best of her.
We weave the memories into the hole and carry on. She would and did.

sending sincere sympathy to the family in the passing of your mother ... your mother was a very pleasant person and was always friendly to me ... way back in the day when we were in high school I was welcomed into your home on many occasions and even taught Cathy back in the day ... I have fond remembrances of Annie and whenever I saw her it was catch up time regarding what she was doing, her health and what was happening in the lives of her children ... Annie didn't seem to change and certainly didn't let her health issues hold her back ... I am sure that she has had a great impact on each of your lives and those of your children as well as other family members ... may your memories keep Annie alive in your hearts ... sending hugs, love and prayers ... Larry
