Allen, June Elizabeth (Sanford) - 89, of Bridgetown, formerly of Clementsvale, passed away on September 2, 2011, at the Annapolis Community Health Centre, Annapolis Royal. Born in Clementsvale on June 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Florence (Danielsen) Sanford. Following Graduation from Horton Academy, Wolfville, June married George Allen on September 30, 1940. During their years of service in the Baptist Churches in Mahone Bay, Tufts Cove, Upper Canard, Truro, Dartmouth, Bridgetown, and Clementsvale, June participated in many leadership roles including C.G.I.T., Choir, Sunday School, Women's Missionary Society, United Baptist Women's Missionary Union, the Clementsvale Friendly Club and various other boards and committees. She was a Dominion Life Member of the United Baptist Women's Missionary Union and served on the executive committee for many years. She was a past member of the Good Neighbours Seniors Club and the Clementsvale Garden Club. June's appreciation of the wonders of God's creation led to her love of the outdoors where she enjoyed swimming, hiking, and gardening. She loved to travel and always welcomed new experiences and relationships. Her faith was evident in everything she did whether welcoming countless friends to her home or being a tireless supporter to her children and grandchildren. Besides her husband, the Reverend Dr. George P. Allen, June is survived by sons David (Joyce), Mahone Bay; Paul, Debert; John (Pamela), Kensington PEI; daughter Mary (Lawry) MacLeod, Oxford; grandchildren Janet, Jennifer, Emily (Greg), Ben , Thomas, and William, great grandchildren Owen and Aislin; brother Borden Sanford, Clementsvale, as well as nieces and nephews. Family members would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Crosskill Court, the Victorian Order of Nurses, and the doctors and nurses of the Annapolis Community Health Centre, and the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program, for their tender care and compassion during June's last months. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7th from 2:30 - 4:30 and 7-9 p.m. at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8th in Bridgetown United Baptist Church, with Reverend Donald Robertson officiating. By her request, family flowers only. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Branch of the Canadian Hemophilia Society, the United Baptist Women's Missionary Union, Palliative Care Unit at the Annapolis Community Health Centre or a charity of choice.
