Obituary of Alice Velma Bent
Bent, Alice Velma – 90, of Bridgetown, formerly of Upper Granville, passed away April 24, 2018 in Mountain Lea Lodge. Born July 22, 1927, in Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Myrtle (Zwicker) Lawson. Alice was an avid gardener, enjoyed doing lexicons in the paper and in her younger years, she loved to bowl in the ladies bowling league. Those who knew Alice, knew her great loves were her cats, and her beloved Montreal Canadians. But above all else, Alice loved her family. She was a kind, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Alice is survived by her children, Rosalyn Hatt of Meadowvale, Dianne (Laurie) Graham of Young’s Cove, John (Annette) Bent of Upper North River, Darrin (Bonnie) Bent of Conception Bay South, NLFD; daughter in-law, Carole; 13 grandchildren, Denise, Marty, Robert Scott, Angela, Tommi, Jeanette, Sherri, Nicole, Michelle, Jason, Penny, Billy, Jennifer; 21 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; brother, Victor and sister in-law, Frieda. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Earl; son, Sherman; brother, Charles. A visitation will be held 7-9pm Sunday April 29, with a funeral service being held 2pm Monday April 30, both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown, with Rev. Brian Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. Donations in Alice’s memory may be made to the Recreation Dept at Mountain Lea Lodge.
