Woodland, Richard Lawrence 82 (Buddy to family and friends and Woodie to colleagues and friends), born August 9, 1935 of Allains Creek, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully in his beloved family home on March 1, 2018, as were his wishes.

Born in Upper Clements August 9, 1935 he was a son of the late Charles E. and Marion I (Purdy) Woodland. He is survived by; his children: Cindy L.A. Woodland , Richard K.L. Woodland, Thodesia(Thoddy).J.D Woodland, Linda K.L. Woodland/Bernardi. Grandchildren: Casey and Will Fraas, Liam, Katie & Hale’ Woodland; Alexondra and Nikolas Bernardi. He is also survived by siblings; Donald Woodland and Victoria Martyn as well as many loving and caring nieces and nephews. As well as his beloved cat Abbey. He was predeceased by brothers: Stanley and Ronald Woodland.

He entered the RCAF at the age of 17,to become a Flight Engineer starting with Search and Rescue in Winnipeg, transferring to Maritime Command and then flying with the 412 Squardron in Ottawa. He flew on peace-keeping missions to Cyprus and Nigeria(Biafra) in the 1960’s and Vietnam in the 1970’s. Upon early retirement in 1973, he flew for Kenting Air Services in Africa, and then Geoterix. The final stage of his flying career he flew for the Ministry of Transport as Lead Flight engineer flying the Prime Minister and many MP’s until his flying career came to an abrupt end in 1983. In 1988 he then returned to Nova Scotia and opened the Woodland Farm Nursery. During the later years in Nova Scotia he became an advocate for replenishing the declining bee global population.

 The family would like to express the sincerest thanks to the kind and caring medical staff that he was so fond of and fortunate to have in his final days.

  A private family service was held Tuesday March 6, 2018 with internment at Old St. Edward’s Cemetery, Clementsport.
