Blair Allister Wadden
Surrounded by his loving family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allister Wadden (60) on Sunday December 9th at the QEII Hospital, Halifax after a short illness. Born in Sydney, October 27,1958. He was the son of the late David Wadden and Mable Wadden of Catalone. Allister was a graduate of Riverview High School and Nova Scotia Teachers College. He settled in Port Royal. Allister was a high school teacher with Annapolis West Education Centre for 30 years.
Allister will be forever remembered for his love of family, his extended school family, and the love of the hundreds of school children he taught throughout his years at Annapolis West. He was an exemplary educator and unionist, an active member of NSTU who worked tirelessly for his school, teachers and the students of Nova Scotia.
He was well known by all who knew him, for his humour and wit especially shown when he attended the family annual wing off held down at the bungalow in Catalone.
Allister is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years Linda (Dixon) Wadden, daughter Meghan, at home; son Andrew, Halifax, and his grandson Connor whom he loved dearly; brothers Dave(Cathy); Dennis (Laura); sisters Bernice (Henry); Elaine (Michael); Valerie (Victor); Frances (Raymond) and Denise, and Linda’s brothers and sisters. He has also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his father Dave, he was predeceased by his brother Tony; maternal grandparents Alex and Annie Hall; John MacDonald; his paternal grandparents, William and Mary Wadden; his parents-in-law, Robert & Glenda Dixon.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday December 13th at 6:00PM at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, 190 St Anthony St, Annapolis Royal, NS. A celebration of life will also be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Main-A--Dieu on Monday, December 17th at 11:00AM. Reception to follow at the Catalone Recreation Centre.
The family would like to thank the VON, the staff of ICU and IMCU of the QEII hospital and the staff on the 6th floor of the VG for their care and compassion.
Donations in memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

As a colleague expressed, his heart was as big as Cape Breton, Rest in peace Allister.
