Obituary of Joyce Elaine Kaye

KAYE, Joyce Elaine

Age 88 of Hillsburn passed away March 9, 2019 in the Annapolis Community Health Centre. Born in Boston, MA she was the youngest daughter of the late Charlie and Mildred (McCaul) Milbury.

The family moved back to Nova Scotia shortly after Joyce was born and settled in Hillsburn.  She loved everything to do with food and textile arts. She grew up on a small mixed farm enjoying planting and harvesting fruits and vegetables. Later in life she was inventive in the kitchen, catering weddings and church events. She married Winslow Kaye and together they ran a general store in Hillsburn in the 1980’s.  For a time she was a Rural Delivery Agent for Canada Post. Joyce was respected for her love of church and community.  She was an active participant in the Tie-a-Knot Circle in Hillsburn and an early member of the Beacon of Hope Congregation in Litchfield.   She is survived by her daughter, Joanna, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was predeceased by daughter Jane, husband Winslow, and sisters and brothers-in-law Barbara (Art) Taylor, Hildajane (Rev. Francis) Miller, and Isabel (James) Longmire.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14th at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal with Rev. Elizabeth Legassie officiating.
