Obituary of Anne Marie Rice

Anne Marie Rice (Leroux) 77, of Bridgetown, NS, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023. Anne will be remembered for her quick wit and love of learning, as well as her talent for creating beautiful, comforting spaces with her skill in decorating, renovating, sewing, and crafting. Anne loved fashion, gardening, politics, and books, but her joy was connecting with people. She treasured her friendships and delighted in meeting and helping others. She was born in Montreal and attended Marianopolis College and then McGill University, before moving to the Maritimes and supporting her community in various roles. In Bridgetown, she combined her passions for both volunteering and books as a member of the Friends of the Library, and was active in the Historical Society and many other local community groups. Anne was predeceased by her parents Helen (Thoms) and Laurence Leroux, partner John Cameron, brothers, Adrian and Les, and sister Marie-Louise (Gigi). She is survived by her children Susan Witherly, Matthew Witherly (Laura), and Katherine Witherly, as well as John’s daughters Janet and Fiona, nephew Andre, niece Ann-Elizabeth, and grandsons Noah and James. A service will be held at 2 pm, February 7, 2023 at Oman Gallery, 298 Granville St E, Bridgetown, with refreshments to follow.
