Obituary of Wanda Carole Sanford
Sanford, Wanda Carole – 79, passed away peacefully at Digby General Hospital, Digby. Born in Halifax, to the late Ethyl (Lantz). Wanda was the first woman to drive for Loomis Courier. When she was finally given an interview, there was no questions asked on her ability as a driver. She later bought her own full size passenger van, traveling every day from Dartmouth to Digby, with many stops in between. In her driving career she drove in all types of weather, when many would not. Wanda loved music and dancing. She enjoyed watching cooking shows and then experimented with new recipes; she enjoyed baking cookies and always sent Ray to work with “extras” for the guys. The guys enjoyed the cookies as much as Wanda enjoyed baking them. As her health declined cooking became a joint effort between Wanda and Ray. Wanda had fought four types of cancer, her strength and determination amazed many doctors. She is survived by her loving husband Ray; son, Vance C. Scott; sisters, Ann (Ted), Gail, Joyce (Gordon) and Nancy; brother, Jimmy; grandson, Scottie; great grandchildren, Ava and Aiden; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Zelinda Frances “Dawn” Grosvold (2023); grandson, Daniel Grosvold; son-in-law, Halvard; brother-in-law’s, Dave and Floyd. Following Wanda’s wishes cremation has taken place, under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A funeral service will take place 2pm., Sunday, October 29, 2023, in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, with Pastor Herb Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Clementsvale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
