As a kid hanging out at BFD, Joe was there. Always willing to show me around any truck, but especially the Rescue. When I was a Jr firefighter, Joe was there. Telling stories, showing us how to use the equipment & telling us who was shit talking. As I worked summers at OF3 Michelin, Joe was there. Stopping by for a chat, helping me know all the personalities & how to do my job better. When I became a BFD firefighter, Joe was there. Teaching how to be calm as we approached my first MVC, providing leadership in what to do & later explaining why. He also continued to tell me who was shit talking. Once Joe had retired after many great years of service in BFD, he would come back. We would trade stories, talk about who was shit talking & have great laughs. I'll miss Joe's devilish look when he was about to crack a line. I am still a firefighter & a much better one thanks to Joe. Now I am in the position of being the quiet teacher, just like Joe. I even help the new recruits know who talks shit! Thanks Joe. It's with a heavy heart I say goodbye from so far away. I will miss you, and I know my BFD brothers & sisters will honour you. To Joe's family, my deepest condolences. I know he will be greatly missed & please know I am thinking of you all.
